First Alarm in the 50-1 Box

August 18

Just after midnight, Chief 50 was returning from a previous call and requested the Working Fire assignment to the 15 Block of N Front for a 3 Story Taxpayer with fire showing from the C Side. Yesterday evening at the monthly Swatara Township Board Meeting, 6 members from Swatara Fire-Rescue were recognized for their years of service to the township. Chauffeurs Richard Szekeras (53 Years) and Bill Hoyer (39 Years) from Station 1, were both given the “Ronald Huggins Length of Service Award”. 4 Trapped in Rutherford

July 08

This afternoon, Box 45-4 was sent to Derry St & Pleasant View for an MVA w/ Entrapment. Rescue 91-5 arrived confirming 4 trapped. Rescue 91 (LT Oliver) arrived shortly after and assumes extrication. The Rescue 91 crew stabilized and removed the roof. Crews from R91-5 & E91-2 assisted with patient packaging and support. All victims were extricated within 20 minutes.

Early this AM, Box 32-1 (Progress) was sent to the 3000 Block of Walnut St for a Reported Apartment Fire. Engine 32 arrived with fire showing from the 2nd Floor of a multi-family and requested the Working Fire Dispatch. Rescue 91 was sent as a replacement for failed apparatus on the initial alarm. House Fire in Rutherford

Early this morning, Box 45-2 was sent to the 300 Block of N 71st St in the Rutherford section of the Township. E91-5 arrived with fire through the roof and initiated an attack. Truck 91 (FF Marzen) arrived as the 2nd Due Truck Company and worked the roof with Truck 33 (Colonial Park). This evening shortly after 1600, Box 49-3 was sent to the 100 Block of Shakespeare Alley for a Reported Building Fire. Engine 91 (LT Oliver) arrived with a 3 story Commercial with Fire Showing from the B/C corner and stretched. Crews found active fire running the exterior extending on all 3 divisions.
